Privacy policy

What we collect on this site, and why.

Last updated Oct. 14, 2026.

Garrett County News is free to read and you don't need an account. This page explains what information this website collects.

Forms you fill out

When you send a news tip or ask about advertising, we receive what you type in the form. Our website host, Netlify, stores those messages for us. We use them only to report the news or answer your question. We don't sell them. We don't publish your name or contact details unless you ask us to.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which stories people read. It uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your general location, and your device and browser. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.

Advertising

We may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads at Google's Ad Settings or aboutads.info. Sponsor spots from local businesses are simple links and don't track you.

Videos and other services

Our videos play in Facebook's video player, so Facebook may set cookies when you watch them. Our fonts load from Google Fonts. Each of these services has its own privacy policy.

Questions or removal requests

To ask what we have from you, or to have it removed, message us on Facebook or use our contact form.
