A 56-year-old Severna Park man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of 54-year-old Steven Reynolds, a father of four and longtime member of the Severna Park community.

Police say Reynolds was walking in a crosswalk at Ritchie Highway and Magothy Bridge Road around 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver left the scene, and Reynolds later died from his injuries.

Investigators identified the suspected vehicle as a black Land Rover Discovery and found a damaged SUV at the suspect’s home. Police arrested Michael Garner Hilliard Monday.

Friends remember Reynolds as a devoted father, business owner, Little League umpire and youth sports coach.

Hilliard is being held without bond.

A fundraiser established to support Reynolds’ children has raised more than $20,000.

Our thoughts are with Steven Reynolds’ wife, children, family and everyone in the Severna Park community affected by this tragedy.
