West Virginia resident Joseph Strickland has been identified as the motorcyclist who died after a crash Sunday afternoon on I-68 east of Flintstone.

Strickland lost control of his Indian Scout motorcycle and went off the roadway. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor. He was taken to UPMC Western Maryland, where he died.

The westbound lanes were closed for several hours Sunday and traffic was detoured onto the shoulder. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing its investigation.

Our thoughts are with his family.
