Pregnant Mother Days Away From Giving Birth Among Eight Victims Killed in Pennsylvania Mass Shooting
ERIE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania community is mourning after a mass shooting in Erie claimed the lives of eight people, including a pregnant mother who was reportedly just four days away from giving birth, her two young children and several other family members.
The shooting occurred Friday evening, October 9, 2026, at a residence on Perry Street in Erie. Authorities said the suspected gunman also died, bringing the total number of fatalities to nine.
Among the victims was Angelina Stone, a 24-year-old mother who was eight months pregnant. According to reports from local news outlets, Stone was nearing her due date when she was killed alongside her children and other relatives.
Her children, identified by family friends and a fundraiser as 5-year-old Isiah and nearly 2-year-old Amari’anna, also died in the shooting. Stone’s unborn baby, identified as Kyrie, was among those lost in the tragedy.
Eight Victims Killed
According to Erie police, the eight victims included four women, two young children and two young men. Seven of the victims were related to the suspected gunman, while the eighth was a family friend.
Police were dispatched to the residence at approximately 5 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of gunfire.
Investigators said two women were found dead outside the home, while additional victims were discovered inside. The suspected gunman, a 45-year-old man, was also found dead from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officials said they believe all the victims had died before officers entered the residence.
Authorities have not publicly released the names of every victim or the suspected gunman as the investigation continues.
Investigators Working to Determine a Motive
Erie Police Chief Richard Lorah described the scene as deeply disturbing and acknowledged the lasting impact the tragedy would have on the officers and emergency personnel who responded.
Investigators are working to establish what led to the killings. Police have indicated that evidence, including cellphone records and witness accounts, could help clarify the events leading up to the shooting.
Although the police chief raised the possibility that mental health issues could have played a role, authorities cautioned that it was too early to establish a motive.
No definitive explanation for the violence has been publicly confirmed.
Family and Community Left Grieving
The deaths of Stone and her young children have brought particular heartbreak to family members and those who knew them.
Julius Windham, the father of Amari’anna, spoke publicly about the loss of his daughter and her family. In comments reported by The Associated Press, Windham expressed disbelief, describing the suspected gunman as someone who had not appeared outwardly distressed in their everyday interactions.
Community members have gathered to remember the victims, while a fundraising campaign has been established to help cover funeral expenses for Stone and her children.
The loss of a mother so close to giving birth, along with the deaths of two young children, has left loved ones facing an unimaginable tragedy.
As investigators continue their work, the Erie community is left grieving eight victims whose lives were taken in a single act of violence.
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information may be released as authorities confirm the identities of the victims and establish more details surrounding the shooting.
