School Bus Involved in Two-Vehicle Accident on Garrett Highway

GARRETT COUNTY, MD – Garrett County emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle near the intersection of Garrett Highway and Gravily Run Road.

Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed the accident involved a school bus transporting students from Allegany County Public Schools and a passenger vehicle. The accident was determined to be minor in nature.

A total of 29 individuals were evaluated by EMS personnel at the scene. All 29 declined further medical treatment and transport, and no patients were transported to a medical facility.

Representatives from the Allegany County Board of Education responded to the scene and worked alongside emergency personnel to coordinate the incident and ensure the safety and accountability of the students. Following the evaluations, students were released to the care and supervision of Allegany County Public Schools personnel.

Responding agencies included Deep Creek Fire Company, Garrett County Emergency Services, Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad, Bittinger Volunteer Fire Department, and the Maryland State Police.

The Maryland State Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Garrett County Dept of Emergency Management extends its appreciation to all responding agencies and Allegany County Public Schools personnel for their cooperation and coordinated response in ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
