14 Years Ago This Week, Hurricane Sandy Buried Garrett County in Snow

On Oct. 8, 2012, we posted a little video of the first flakes falling in town. Three weeks later, Sandy buried Garrett County under as much as 30 inches of heavy, wet snow. Trees came down, close to 70% of the county lost power, and roads (even I-68) were shut down.
We were out on those roads posting updates in real time, and working with WBAL to get information to the Governor's office and blocked roads reported to the county. Then the National Guard, road crews, deputies, EMS, line crews and volunteers came together and dug us out. Thank you to every one of them.
Do you remember Sandy?
Where were you when the snow hit, and what were you doing? Were you without power for days, plowing out a neighbor, or working through the storm? Share your memories and photos in the comments. We'd love to see them.
P.S. You may have noticed something new. After 14 years, we've freshened up our look. Same local news, same people.
