Northern Garrett's Brody Hanlin is coming home after being injured in Friday night's game against Mountain Ridge, his family said Saturday morning.
The game was called at halftime after Brody was hurt. In an update shared by the Northern Garrett Athletic Boosters, Kayla Kamp Hanlin wrote on behalf of the family: "After a long night in Morgantown, Brody is coming home with a serious concussion—but, most importantly, he is walking away. We are incredibly grateful and reminded once again of just how blessed he is."
She noted that Brody underwent major spine surgery a few years ago, and "every opportunity for Brody to play the sport he loves has felt like a gift." The family thanked "the paramedics, athletic trainers, and coaches from both teams" for their quick response and compassionate care.
"The outpouring of love and prayers from our family and friends, our Husky family, the Mountain Ridge players and parents, and the entire community has been overwhelming," she wrote. "We truly believe every prayer—near and far—helped carry us through this difficult night."
Mountain Ridge had shared its own message after the game: "Tonight, we are all on the same team."
Garrett County News wishes Brody a full and speedy recovery.
