The City of Cumberland is preparing its 2026–2027 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan, which outlines how an estimated $750,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development may be used locally.
Public Hearing: Tuesday, April 7 Time: 6:15 PM During the Mayor & City Council Meeting
City officials will present the draft 2026 Annual Action Plan, which includes recommended projects and programs that could receive funding.
CDBG funds are typically used for projects such as:
- Housing rehabilitation
- Neighborhood infrastructure improvements
- Accessibility upgrades to public facilities
- Community programs benefiting low- and moderate-income residents
Residents will have the opportunity to review the proposal and provide public comment before the final plan is submitted to HUD.
Public participation is a required part of the process and helps determine how federal funding is prioritized in the community.
Why this matters:
These funds can directly impact housing, neighborhood improvements, and local services in Cumberland.
Garrett County News will continue following the proposal and project recommendations as they are released.
