Frostburg lobbyist says seven e-bike ideas are ready for the next General Assembly session

Frostburg's lobbyist told the City Council on Monday that seven ideas for modernizing Maryland's laws on e-bikes and e-motos are ready to pitch for the upcoming session of the General Assembly.
The council asked City Lobbyist Rich Reinhardt for an update on the effort during its Oct. 19 meeting. Reinhardt said the General Assembly focused on revenue last session, but he has been brainstorming with colleagues and state officials ahead of the next one, and the overall consensus is that change is needed.
Reinhardt said the ideas could move as separate bills or be combined.
"There's a possibility that we could see seven individual bills, or they may want to take a few of them and put them in maybe like a larger, somewhat omnibus bill," Reinhardt said. "But progress is going very well on that and, fingers crossed, hopefully by the end of the year we'll have the commitments, and we could potentially see some ideas of what the draft would look like."
Reinhardt did not say at the meeting what the seven ideas are or which lawmakers would sponsor them.
GCN will follow the proposals as they take shape ahead of the session.
