KINGWOOD, W.Va. — An 18-year-old Preston County man has been indicted on 25 felony charges accusing him of sexually assaulting and abusing two girls over a period of several years, according to the Preston County Prosecutor’s Office.
The county’s October grand jury returned the indictment against John Rohrbough Jr.
The indictment accuses Rohrbough of sexually assaulting and abusing one girl beginning in 2023, when she was about 10 years old, and continuing into 2025, when she was 12.
He is also accused of sexually abusing a second girl between 2019 and 2025, when she was between 9 and 15 years old. WBOY 12 News reported that the indictment describes the victim as having been “forcibly restrained” during the incidents.
The grand jury returned the following counts:
- Two counts of first-degree sexual assault
- Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse
- 10 counts of second-degree sexual assault
- One count of third-degree sexual assault
- 10 other sex-related counts
Rohrbough was a juvenile at the time of the alleged crimes, WBOY reported. Because of that, and because of West Virginia’s confidentiality laws in sex crime cases, the station said it could not obtain the initial criminal complaint from Preston County officials. The details released so far come from the indictment.
Rohrbough is being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail without bond, according to local media reports. No court date has been announced.
GCN is not publishing any details that could identify the alleged victims.
Charges are allegations. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
